It was more than unique… it was a winner. Around the globe, the RM-Z450 helped racers collect wins and trophies, fiercly competing in venues from the World MX1 series to America’s AMA Supercross championship.

Now the question: Is there any way to improve on this incredible success? Sure there is. But you have to be Suzuki to do it.

Take a look at the 2010 RM-Z450, a thoroughly updated, cutting-edge open-class motocrosser that’s more potent than ever. Across-the-board engine upgrades boost power from awesome to awe-inspiring. Detatiled frame and suspension modifications improve an already sharp-turning racebike. As a racer, you want quick, laser-accurate steering and confidence-inspiring high-speed handling in one package. And you want a high performance machine whose racing pedigree enables it to be competitive right out of the crate.

Features

• The cam chain tensioner provides enhanced performance

• The RM-Z450’s electronic fuel injection is improved with a reversed throttle valve movement. The fine fuel-air mist from the 12-hole fuel injector is directed away from the throttle valve for a more uniform mixture producing increased power and enhanced throttle response.

• The RM-Z450’s twin-spar aluminum alloy frame has received detail improvements to optimize rigidity balance. It starts with the head stock, which is now a two-piece design that’s 9mm taller than before. Further back, the sections at the rear of the frame, which are made up of extruded and cast members, are now wider for increased rigidity. More strength comes from a wider upper frame bridge beneath the saddle, while material wall thickness was strategically designed to save weight.

• A combination of revised cam profiles and reworked cylinder-head porting give the RM-Z450 amazing idle-to-redline thrust.

• For 2010, both ends of the bike are given suitably revised spring and damping rates—the new rates work together with the chassis’ optimized rigidity balance to improve handling.

• A modified throttle linkage makes the low-speed response more progressive.

Engine Features

• 18-pin magneto-rotor senses feedback on crankshaft position, rotation speed and stroke which is fed back to the ECU to calculate optimum injection and ignition timings.

• 5-Speed Transmission makes the RM-Z450 versatile for various terrain conditions and features a link type shifting mechanism

• Battery-less fuel injection system features a single-phase all-charging system with which the magneto supplies all of the necessary power

• Combustion chamber designed for strong low-to-mid range response as well as top-end pull. Narrower intake and exhaust valve angle guides along with increased squish areas improve air/fuel mixing and faster flame-propagation speed when mixture ignites

• Electronic fuel injection provides more acceleration power at low and medium rpm

• Intake port angle and cam timing result in reduced intake resistance and heightened intake efficiency. Exhaust port and cam timing are designed to regulate exhaust pulses for maximum engine performance

• KEIHIN fuel pump located inside the fuel tank provides stable pressure delivery to operate the fuel injection system

• Semi-dry-sump lubrication system features separate oil chambers for the transmission and crankshaft using the transmission as the oil sump, allowing low crankshaft placement, reduced engine height and a low center of gravity

Chassis Features

When complimented with a host of optional genuine Suzuki accessories you can customize your ride and hit the streets or open road.

The traditional classic hard-tail styled cruiser is powered by the same modern high-performance 1,783cc, fuel injected, V-Twin engine as used by the M109R.
To enhance this responsive, massive torque producing power-plant is a five speed transmission, a shaft final drive, a linked front-and-rear disc brake system and a massive, ultra wide 240/55R16 rear radial tire.

A common sense comfortable riding position with chromed pullback handlebars and a wide seat completes the package to make this a cruiser that does it all.
This classic style cruiser compliments the growing range of popular Suzuki Boulevard cruisers.

Features and Benefits:
• 1783cc, 4-valve DOHC, 54 degree, liquid-cooled, fuel injected V-twin engine designed for strong throttle response and massive torque output

• 112mm bore and 90.5mm stroke utilizing forged aluminum alloy pistons with short skirts, and cut away sides riding on chrome moly steel connecting rods

• Unique new two-stage cam drive system creates a compact cylinder head design and reduces overall engine height and creates a lower center of gravity

• Each bore is lined with Suzuki’s race proven SCEM (Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material) for optimum heat transfer, tighter piston-to-cylinder clearances and reduced weight

• Crank inertia for the C109R is increased by 20% for increased torque delivery at low speed and for reduced vibration across the rpm range

• A compact dry sump lubrication system SASS (Suzuki Advanced Sump System) provides reduced engine height, a lower crankshaft position and lower center of gravity

• Five speed transmission features carefully selected gear ratios for comfortable cruising in a variety of riding situations

• Three piece airbox uses dual intakes working through a pleated fabric air cleaner element

• Electronic fuel injection system features the Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve system (SDTV) with 52mm throttle bodies – maintains optimum air velocity for smooth low-to-mid range throttle response

• A new Idle Speed Control (ISC) system improves cold starting and stabilizes engine idle speed in various conditions

• Dual spark plug per cylinder ignition system is controlled by the powerful 32 bit ECM for improved combustion efficiency and reduced exhaust emissions

• High-tensile double cradle steel frame is built to comfortably handle all the power and torque while delivering agile handling and a plush smooth ride

• New cast alloy wheels feature a 10 spoke radial design for a clean and classic look. The new cast wheels measure a 3.50 x 16 inch up front and a massive 8.00 x 16 inch rear tyre wearing a huge 240mm radial tire

• New combined braking system utilizes three pistons per caliper for the dual disc front braking system. When applying the front brake lever two pistons work at the front. When using the rear brake pedal both front brake and rear brake systems are combined using the rear brake and the middle piston of the front brake calipers through a delay valve.

• New pull back type handlebars feature a deep chrome plated finish and a beautiful wide design for a massive look.

• 49mm front forks feature thick chrome covers for a stylish new look and feature 130mm of wheel travel.

• Link type aluminum swingarm creating a rigid tail look with light weight and high rigidity.

• New spacious floorboards for increased rider comfort and control.

• New classic design brings combines the clean, sweeping good looks of a classic cruiser with high performance provided by Suzuki advanced technology.

• The 2-into1-into-2 stainless steel chromed exhaust system features Suzuki’s digitally controlled SET (Suzuki Exhaust Tuning) system for optimum engine performance and powerful v-twin sound.

Besides the Gladius 400 ABS Suzuki will also be exhibiting the Burgman Fuel Cell Scooter, step further from their hydrogen prototype Crosscage that they revealed in the 2007 show.

The fuel cell is air-cooled and concomitantly light, compact, and structurally simple. A 70MPa hydrogen tank (the highest-pressure tank used on a bike thus far) allows a usable riding range. And the tank is mounted within a robust frame for safety.

After the jump check out the Crosscage from 2007.

Suzuki is excited to announce the introduction of the all-new 2010 RMX450Z competition-specific enduro racer to its product line up.

Set to arrive in Australia late this year, the RMX450Z shares the DNA of Suzuki’s championship winning RM-Z450 motocrosser, including a fuel-injected 449cc engine, and race-bred frame, suspension and bodywork.

Developed to maximise off-road performance, the new model heads Suzuki’s popular off-road range, which includes the street-legal DR-Z400E.

‘The introduction of the 2010 RMX450Z adds some serious firepower to Suzuki’s off-road line-up,” Perry Morison, General Manager, Motorcycles, Suzuki Australia said.

‘It takes advanced technology developed by Suzuki in motocross competition, and puts it into a race-ready enduro package.

‘The RMX450Z features the same 449cc fuel-injected engine that revolutionised motocross in the Suzuki RM-Z450, along with a host of other common components – it’s a high-spec off-road weapon.”

Delivering exceptional power and, torque, the RMX450Z is powered by a 449cc, four-stroke single-cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC, 4-valve engine, sharing the key technologies of the RM-Z450.

Utilising Suzuki’s vast experience and knowledge on and off-road, the Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system ensures crisp and strong power delivery, lower emissions and impressive fuel economy .

A modified inlet tract and revised cam profiles enhance low and mid-range power, while the airbox features a hinged lid for quick air filter access, easier maintenance and better dust protection.

To meet the demands of trail riding, the RMX450Z has an extra coolant reservoir tank and relocated filler cap, along with a bash plate.

Wider primary and final drive ratios in the five-speed transmission help riders get the most from the impressive engine when off the beaten track, from tackling a rutted uphill goat track to open fire roads.

The trail is no place to be kick-starting, and the RMX450Z features an electric starter, while the starter and lights’ centrally-located batteries are charged by a larger magneto-generator.

Based on the RM-Z450 but optimised for off-road riding, an aluminium alloy frame utilises cast and extruded sections in a slim, lightweight, rigid and tough package.

The RMX450Z features a Showa suspension package derived from the championship winning RM-Z450 – the 47mm inverted front forks are fully adjustable for rebound and compression settings, while the rear shock unit offers fully adjustable rebound, compression and pre-load settings.

Spring rates and suspension geometry on the Suzuki have been developed for off-road riding, combining with an 18 inch rear wheel to offer razor-sharp cornering and a smooth ride across rugged terrain.

Slim bodywork, a low-profile aluminium fuel tank and a motocross-developed seat gives RMX450Z rider a functional riding position to focus on the terrain ahead to optimise line selection.

The RMX450Z’s compact instrumentation offers riders the choice between two modes, a sports mode showing the basic information a rider needs in competition, such as a trip meter, timer and average speed, while a standard mode displays additional information including speed, time and information of two trip lengths.

An integrated tire diameter calculator allows precise fine tuning for different tyres, giving racers accurate live data for speed and distance displays.

Suzuki’s trademark Black / Champion Yellow livery with black, white and red graphics accompanies the aggressive styling of the class-leading RMX450Z.

Engine Features

• The trail is no place to wear yourself out kick-starting a bike, so the RMX450Z comes with an electric starter, energized by a compact battery centrally located to reduce its influence on weight distribution and balance of the bike. To charge the battery and power the RMX450Z’s lights, a larger magneto-generator is fitted. It’s a win-win situation.
Fuel Injection
Fuel Injection

• Suzuki pioneered fuel injection for motocrossers, and the RMX450Z shares all key technologies with the stunning RM-Z450. Fuel injection improves fuel efficiency, throttle response and reduces emissions, allowing the RMX450Z to be “green sticker” eligible in the state of California. On the every trail in the world, the RMX450Z’s fuel injection provides unmatched smoothness of power delivery and trail-ready reliability thanks to a KEIHIN throttle body with progressive linkage. This advanced fuel injection system also eliminates the need for re-jetting at higher elevations. To best suit the RMX450Z to life on the trail, the airbox features a hinged lid for quick air-filter maintenance and better protection from dust. Suzuki’s vast experience with motorcycle fuel injection both on and off-road help make this among the best systems available.

• Suzuki has made minimal modifications to the all-conquering RM-Z450’s potent four-valve, DOHC engine for the RMX450Z. This lightweight engine now features a modified inlet tract along with revised cam profiles to increase low and mid-rpm power. Wider gear ratios in the 5-speed constant-mesh transmission that work with revised primary and final-drive ratios are ideally suited for a broad range of conditions, from scaling steep trails to high-speed open-terrain riding. The addition of a coolant reservoir tank increases on-trail reliability, while a relocated filler cap improves access. Because the trail can be a rocky place, a new engine protector plate is fitted. No stone was left unturned.

• Sit on an RM-Z450. Now go sit on the new RMX450Z. Feels just about the same, right? That’s right. With an ideal riding position resulting from the motocross-developed seat, slim bodywork and low-profile aluminum alloy fuel tank, the RMX450Z allows the rider to concentrate on the terrain. A comfortable rider is a fast rider.

• A durable, ultra-compact enclosure houses a full-function instrument cluster on the RMX450Z—and can be configured for two modes, standard and sport . The sport mode simplifies the display so the rider can concentrate on terrain; it shows the timer, tripmeter, average speed and tire-diameter correction. In the standard mode, the display also shows speed, time, two trip lengths, and voltage. An integrated tire diameter calculator allows precise fine tuning for different tires to ensure accuracy of the speed and distance displays. The RMX450Z also features a low fuel level warning light for confident off-road riding anywhere you go.

• Suzuki’s light and effective aluminum alloy twin-spar frame construction is used in the RMX450Z, employing both cast and extruded sections for the utmost benefits of both: low weight, high rigidity, and high durability. The RMX450Z’s aluminum alloy swingarm is derived from the RM-Z450’s to maintain ideal balance, while the rear suspension linkage benefits from reduced free play. Its geometry combines the RM series’ renowned turning-on-rails abilities with optimized handling performance that all serious trail riders want.

• Derived from the RM-Z450, the RMX450Z’s trail ready suspension features the same phenomenal action as the race bike. The RMX450Z suspension utilizes high performance rebound and compression damping adjustable Showa forks combined with a Showa piggyback reservoir style rear shock featuring two-way adjustable compression damping with adjustable rebound damping and preload adjustments. Spring rates have been optimized for off-road riding. Every aspect of the RMX450Z’s performance envelope has been carefully considered for serious off-road riding without compromising a millimeter of quality.

• Footpegs include maximum clearance between the mounting bracket and footrest to prevent mud from caking up

• Hot start lever is located on the right hand side of the handlebar for easy operation while holding the clutch

• Race inspired brake rotors provide better cooling performance and increased mud deflection in muddy conditions

• Showa cartridge-style front fork is fully adjustable for rebound, compression and preload settings and designed for reduced weight and improved shock absorption

• Slim riding position opens up the cockpit for additional room to allow the rider to actively take control of the machine

The new addition will sell in Europe and compared to the Bandit 1250, it only has an extra full fairing to brag about. Everything else, the engine and tranny as well as the chassis are all shared with the Bandit 1250S, while the fairing didn’t required much work or imagination either as it was simply inspired from now this bike’s smaller brother, the GSX650F.

The fact is that Suzuki plans to sell the all-new GSX1250FA as a cheap (price is yet to be announced though) and versatile sport-touring motorcycle. For that reason, they offer genuine accessories such as windshield, top case and side cases among others.

Colors available for the 2010 model year are Candy Indy Blue, Metallic Oort Gray and Pearl Nebular Black. We hope this bike makes it to the United States in a couple of years from now because we truly like it. Read the provisory specs and features after the break.
